Job Description: One of the leading distribution and tile importers on the East Coast is seeking a Senior Designer to join our Fairfax showroom team. We are looking for a driven individual who can meet and exceed established goals in a fast-paced environment as well as be helpful and courteous with every showroom client. As a Senior Designer, you will be on the front lines helping grow our already thriving business by establishing new customer contacts and working with those new customers to further gain their trust through the selection, order, and delivery process. The successful candidate must have a passion for design, be creative, organized, and self-motivated. The Senior Designer would work with a variety of clients and trades, leading projects from the initial conceptual design phase through to contract documentation, implementation, and close-out, and must be capable of clear communication to effectively manage projects from commencement to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Build a sales call calendar to introduce yourself and B&F to builders, contractors, and designers with potential of local visit to client showrooms/offices.
- Make appointments in the showroom to give tours to new clients/contactors and assist in tile selections.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork capabilities enabling one to interface with clients, contractors, and consultants; lead project meetings & client presentations.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, contact, and follow up.
- Strong communication, organization and basic mathematical skills are essential. Customer satisfaction begins with your clients. Their installers and contractors should trust that you have handled their projects with a detailed eye and exceptional industry knowledge.
- Greet and assist customers with flooring, kitchen, and bath selections. • Develop and coordinate exceptional detailed design concepts and leadership, with the ability to develop functional requirements and inspirational approach to meet project-design criteria.
- Effectively review space plans and designs concepts. • Produce innovative design concepts that meet the client and project needs, while also respecting the project budget.
- Conceptualize and describe design ideas through 3D visualization and/or hand-sketching.
- Answer phones and handle customer service issues in a timely manner.
- Work as part of a team and independently.
- Take initiative to maintain product displays.
- Delegate, as well as mentor/train intermediate and junior designers.
Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic and drive to exceed expectations.
- Proficient in interior design, documentation, and illustration.
- Displays strong project management skills.
- Strong computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Excel and Office.
- Must be outgoing and hardworking with excellent people skills.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or AA (Preferred but not required).
- Minimum 5+ years of residential/hospitality/commercial interior design experience as well as selections and specifications for high-end residential projects.
- Residential design experience is essential.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to collaborate with team members.
- Excellent written, verbal, customer service, interpersonal, and graphic communication skills.
- Knowledge of hard surface flooring a plus.
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite and MS Office.
- Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and/or AutoCAD (preferred but not required).
